Prevention

Of course the best way cheat death, is to never die at all. There are a few methods in the game, a few loopholes that can protect a player from death at least temporarily.

Death

When a person moves on from the living world he or she will appear in Styx’s office. A pure white area with nothing more than a desk, a chair and a bookcase. Styx appears to be a humanoid-shaped black hole with two blood red eyes staring out from somewhere in the darkness. Although Styx looks like a rather dark and sinister figure, he's actually quite pleasant to talk with. After a short chat with Styx, the player can find out that because of the Inquisition an after-life no longer exists as no one believes in one any longer. When asked why the player ended up here, Styx will simply say that it's part of an arrangement. From here on, the player has a few options.

Wait

If you died and you have friends with special abilities, or special connections you can wait in Styx's office. If your corpse is found by the right people it can be ressurected. This will cost both you and the caster of the ritual sanity points.

Pass on

There's nothing for you left in the living world. Styx can offer to send you somewhere else, or he can offer non-existance. Either way, the game ends here for the character.

Challange

Be it Chess, Poker or Kerplunk, as cliché demands it, the player can challange Styx too a game. If the player wins, then they will wake up, heavily wounded but alive. If the player loses he will remain in the white void and a second call of challange will not be granted.
