Race

The initial 'race', in DnD terms one can choose is human (although other races -might- be released later, depending on the people's oppinions).

One difference between ESV and the standard Call of Cthulhu Pen and Paper game is that we are going to allow players to play characters when they are considered unplayable in the Pen and Paper game. This includes two things, firstly characters that are permanently insane such as cultists willingly worshipping an Old One or an Outer God.

However during the course of an investigation, investigators can not only end up grievously injured but changed, mutated or otherwise altered as well. Some 'changes' might even be purposefully self inflicted.

Region

Region determines your character's ethnicity, starting gold and some of your starting equipment. Some also grant a few extra skill points.

Arkham Region

Though not the richest, Arkham is certainly the largest city on the continent and wealthy in a different way. Akrham is leaps ahead on the fields of technology and science. The best blacksmith, alchemist and merchant can be found in Arkham and if they're not, they will end up there eventually. People born and raised in Arkham are can pick up just about any skill or ability.

Characters with the Arkham heritage receive an additional 20 skill points to distribute between any skill. They start with several advanced tools for their profession free of charge though with only a small amount of gold.

Borvorian Norths

Borvorians live close to the mountain regions where it's a lot colder then in the central regions of the continent. The city Brovoria is known for the production of thick and warm fur coats, the thick Borvish accent of the people and their incredibly strong liqour.

Characters with the Northern Borvoria heritage receive 10 additional skill points to a chosen combat skill and 10 additional skill points to their spot hidden skill. Additionally, they start with winter clothes, a sword, axe or crossbow, depending on which of their weapon skill is the highest, several bottles of Borvorian liquor and a small amount of gold.

Cobbler Region

Cobbler Region stems forth from the expression 'Coming from Cobble Town'. It refers to anyone who is from one of the small, villages, towns or communities that riddle the continent within the arkham, king's port or innsmouth regions. Most of these areas are famrlands or mining communities.

Characters with the Cobbler heritage may distribute 20 skill points between any craft and combat skills. Their starting equipment include simple clothes, the tools required to perform the craft skill in which they have the most skill points and a small amount of gold.

Gorstein Kingdom

Although there are several self-proclaimed 'kingdoms' on the continent, the Military Legion is successfully working hard to tear these monarchies down, one way or another. The largest of these dying kingdoms, Gorstein, refuses to yield despite diplomatic attempts, a trade embargo and the threats of military action, the king of Gorstein refuses to lay down his title and adopt the same council system of the other cities. Unfortunately, this means that things in the kingdom are going downhill and as the months are passing, Gorstein deteriorates. Hence, it is not uncommon for Gorstein citizens to flock towards the more wealthy cities. Gorstein itself is traditional, forcing history lessons on their youth.

Characters with the Gorstein Kingdom receive 10 skill points to their archaeology, history and law skills, though their starting equipment exists out of only a small amount of gold, simple clothing and some food and traveling equipment.

Innsmouth Region

The city of Innsmouth lies near the eastern coast of the continent, close near the mountains and was initially a harbor and merchants city. Though since the discovery of precious ores in the hills nearby and even further into the mountains, the city changed as in cooperation with Arkham, a large refinery was build. The city still makes a living from its harbour and trade routes, though it's main income now comes from the mining and processing of gold. Needless to say, Innsmouth is the richest of all the cities.

Characters with the Innsmouth heritage receive 10 additional skill points to their basic mining skill and 10 skill points to their swim skill. Starting equipment consists only out of clothing and some basic traveling equipment, though they start with more gold then anyone else.

King's Port

Seconded by Innsmouth, King's Port does its name justice. It is in all effects the largest and most effective harbor city on the continent and thrives because of this fact. However this kind of business attracts other things as well. The reason King's Port isn't able to acquire the richest city is because of the high crime rate, including pirate attacks on merchant vessels.

Characters with the King's Port heritage receive 10 bonus skill points to their stealth skill and 10 additional skill points in navigate. Starting equipment consists out of simple clothing and a small, convenient weapon such as a dagger. They begin with a moderate amount of gold.
